Britain, when we were sensible of danger we had daily prayer in this room for the divine protection.- Our prayers, Sir, were heard, graciously answered....</em></p><p></p><p><em>On July 9, 1776, the Continental Congress authorized the Continental Army to provide chaplains for their troops.&nbsp; General George Washington thenissued the order and appointed chaplains to every regiment.&nbsp; </em></p><p><em>On August 27, 1776, British Gen. Howe had trapped Gen. Washington and 8,000 troops on Long Island.&nbsp; Gen. Howe intended to crush them the next morning.&nbsp; Washington with the use of any and all kinds of vessels spent the night moving his men across the East River.&nbsp; Morning came and there were still large numbers of men that needed to be moved but the fog did not lift but stayed thick enough and lasted 'til Washington and his men could escape.&nbsp; Never again did the British have such a rare chance of capturing this army.&nbsp; </em></p><p></p><p><em>This now is the year 2006, and we are also in a great battle--but as the founding fathers sought God's help daily for divine protection have we forgot about the importance of daily praying for those who fight to keep us free.&nbsp; They fight so that you and I do not have to fight here at home.&nbsp; They fight and we get to enjoy the benefits in our daily living with friends and families.&nbsp; Please let us join together in reminding each other to hold our military up in daily prayers and in other opportunities such as in our Sunday school and various meetings where prayer is held.&nbsp; It is a spiritual battle as well as a physical battle and we must do our part and maybe... just maybe our prayers will be graciously answered by Almighty God.</em></p><p><em>Please join in this pledge to remember to pray for our military daily and to mention them in all prayer meetings we attend.&nbsp; Remember his word in </em>Zechariah 4:6&nbsp; &quot;Not by might nor by power but by my Spirit&quot; says the Lord Almighty.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Micah 7:7&nbsp; Therefore I will look unto the Lord; Iwill wait for he God of my salvation; <u>my God will hear me.</u></p>]]></description><wfw:commentRss>http://cityonahill.tv/remember-our-military-in-praye/rss-comments-entry-555703.xml</wfw:commentRss></item></channel></rss>
